Petronas Carigali Iraq Is Garraf Oil Field Operators.
KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas upstream operating arm in Iraq, Petronas Carigali Iraq Holding BV, on August 31, earned his first oil production from Garraf oil field is located in Thi Qar Province Iraq.
Its partners are Japan Petroleum Exploration Co Ltd and North Oil Company, Iraq's state-owned companies.
"As one of the largest investors in Iraq, Petronas will continue our development efforts and activities planned. Projects in Garraf an opportunity to build capacity and expertise in the Middle East region.
"The operating environment is challenging and the success of the first oil field Garraf oil help strengthen Petronas reputation in the industry as experienced and capable operators," said General Manager of Petronas Carigali Iraq Ikhlas Abdul Rahman said in a statement today.
Production of Garraf oil field started at 35,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and is expected to reach 230,000 bpd by 2017.
To date, 11 wells, consisting of two appraisal wells and nine development wells was drilled and major surface facilities and pipeline construction to provide for the initial production rates.
Apart from the Garraf oil field, Petronas Carigali also interested in Iraq's Halfaya oil field operated by PetroChina and Majnoon oil field and Badra.
